As professionals in the event industry, there are tips and tricks that we’ve accumulated over time. Many of which are well known amongst other industry professionals, such as event coordinators and wedding planners. There are so many details and decisions that go into planning a wedding or event, which can be intimidating and overwhelming. To keep you in the loop, we’ve created a list of design detail tips that are known across the industry, so you can design your wedding reception or special event with confidence and ease.

Add Perfect Details with Small, Colorful Elements

So many people opt for an all white table design, which of course, is chic, polished, and pretty! However, small, colorful accents create an opportunity to tie in other tones from the design, such as bridesmaid dresses or flowers. For example, colored napkins or charger plates add a delicate touch to each place setting. Runners strewn down the middle of a table are eye catching and add texture and color around the room. We love recommending colorful accents because they’re a cost effective and physically small detail that make a huge impact!

The Most Photographed Tables are the Head Table and Cake/Dessert Table

When your photographer is capturing detail shots, they’re going to spend most of their time at your cake or dessert table and at your head or sweetheart table. These are the tables to give a little extra love to in the details! Whether you add vintage plates or trays, extra flowers, or a specialty linen, it’s worth it to create an extra special moment at these tables, since you’ll get beautiful photos of them in return.

Create a Special Moment with Specialty Linens

Speaking of adding a special element to the head and cake tables, the first thing we will always suggest for these tables is specialty linens. The beauty of specialty linens is clients can always opt for more cost-effective options on their guest tables, and splurge a little extra for select specialty tables. In doing this, specialty linens will add an extraordinary touch to the tables that are a main focal point, which accentuates the overall event design and aesthetic. Bump it up a notch by adding colorful, textured, or overlay linens to cocktail tables or guest tables! The advantage of using specialty linens is that there are so many options to play around with to create a beautiful and well-rounded aesthetic.

Floor Length Linens Make a Huge Impact

This is a tip we will scream from the mountaintops! Anyone involved in table design knows that floor length linens make a huge difference towards the overall look of the event venue. Tables take up a lot of space, so fully covering them with linens totally transforms a room. We won’t go on and on about how great full length linens are, because we have a whole blog post explaining all the benefits here.

Chairs Can Transform a Room

Chairs can be often overlooked when event planning, although they make such a huge difference to the overall design. Like tables, chairs take up so much room in any event space. Therefore, they also have a big influence on the aesthetic of a room. For example, gold chiavari chairs are dreamy and elegant, while cross-back farm chairs add a natural, organic touch. Oftentimes, venues have banquet chairs, which can look distinguished and official, while chair covers create a clean and polished look. Choose your chairs carefully, because they’re everywhere, and can totally shift the event design vibe.

These are important ideas to consider for anyone planning the design of a wedding, shower, party or fundraiser. You certainly don’t have to do all of these things in order for your event to be beautiful, but since these are tips all coordinators and event planners know, be assured that they’re great details that make a big difference in the long run. Tables are a key component at any function, so consider dressing them with a little extra attention to detail to create an unforgettable event.
